While the novels in our curriculum are secular texts, opportunities present themselves in every book to bring the Christian worldview into classroom discussion. An alignment document has been created for each of the read-aloud titles in grades 3-6 that provides ways in which teachers and students can approach a text through the lens of a believer.

While we are careful to select books that are age-appropriate, we do strongly encourage schools to preview all of the texts in the program prior to adopting the curriculum. You know your students and parents better than we do, and we know you are sensitive to their concerns. You can find out more in our support center.

We provide a writing curriculum along with your adoption. We do not have a grammar or spelling component that is explicitly taught in the program. You can learn more in our support center about what we recommend.

Sometimes teachers or administrators feel like a book should be replaced because of their perception of its content, because they feel it is outdated, because another grade likes teaching a particular novel, or for other reasons. While we at Read Side by Side understand those concerns, the process for selecting titles for the program is very thoughtful.
