Materials Needed:

3.1 Book Club Teacher's Guide, sound posters and cards, phonics games. 

 

This video will guide you in how to use the first book club unit for third grade which reviews foundational skills. This unit is unlike the other book clubs in the Read Side by Side Reading Program. 

Recommended for: 3rd grade teachers and specialists.

Day 1: Closed Syllables

Watch as Sarah guides you through the components of a word-study day lesson including: teaching the lesson, guiding students with whiteboards, and releasing students to practice with a partner (10:54).

Day 4: Fluency & Comprehension

Watch as Sarah guides you through a fluency and comprehension day lesson including: phrase-cued reading, dyad reading and breaking unknown words into syllables (12:06).
